Towards the middle of the cluster of the Andaman Islands, lies the island of Rangat. Rangat is a quaint town situated roughly at a distance of 210 kms from Port Blair. Rangat remains unexplored and cannot be labelled as the eventful tourist spot. There are few places to visit in Rangat amidst is Amkunj Beach. A standout midst the much-admired shorelines, Amkunj shoreline appears to be relatively spectacular at first sight. It is a fanciful place to go for long walks or a plunge in the ocean. The best activity to do on the beach is sunbathing amid cool breeze. One can explore and spot exotic birds along with mangrove trees that lie on the beach. The weather here is pleasing and you can save yourself from the roasting tropical heat waves. After the 2004 tidal wave, numerous trees were removed and laid strewn over the shoreline. The trees were later changed over into seats and stools. The beach has eco-friendly amenities like eco-huts, benches made of dead logs, log teapoys and grooves. Diverse activities at the beach are observing watchtower, sunbathing, birdwatching and beachcombing.
